MIKE'S PASTRY REVIEWS
This is my Boston staple, when I’m in town I have to get a cannoli. It’s the perfect indulgence after a night in little Italy. I’ve tried both modern pastry and Mikes and I prefer Mikes ! They are busy!! Don’t get antsy waiting in line it may take a while but it’s worth it, I’ve also ordered from door dash and they also tasted fresh and were fine. My favorite is the chocolate chip or pistachio but I recently tried the chocolate mousse and it was a dream!!! So rich and delicious, you also can’t go wrong with a classic. The shell is crispy, light and airy, and the cream (never skimped) is beautifully delicate and creamy packed with that classic flavor. I will never not stop at Mikes.
This shop is so popular. Even with a line, the line moves fast. It is impressive how quickly the people work. There is so much dessert in this pastry shop. The most popular are their cannoli. I got the regular spice, expresso, and limoncello. Everything there is about $6 and cash only. The cannoli here is quite amazing, and I don't like Cannoli much. The filling is not crazy sweet, and the pastry part is flaky and slight crunch. For the pricer, the portion is massive, even their cake. The spice one tastes like pumpkin pie. I love it.
This is definitely a must stop if you're in the Boston area, even if you're not a cannoli fan they have a variety of other deserts and treats. All the employees were very helpful and friendly. We tried 4 flavors of cannolis, a chocolate whoopie pie, a peanut butter chocolate brownie, and a traditional black/white cookie. Everything was delicious. Most importantly they only take cash, so make sure and come prepared.

BOVA'S BAKERY REVIEWS
Everything you could want out of a classic Italian bakery. The cannoli were delicious, and easily the best I've ever had. I got the pistachio cannoli and the creme brulee cannoli. The snowballs were so tasty and the citrusy zest they have is unmatched. The beats any deli back home and had to easily be in the conversation for best Italian bakery in America. So, so good. We had to wait in line for a little but it moved quickly. The security guard was friendly and fun and did a great job controlling the crowd. The line inside was less in control and we got cut pretty badly because the server just aged who was next instead of respecting the line. Not her fault the ppl behind us cut tho.
Hidden in an alleyway but a long line even on a sat at 10pm as the bakery is open 24/7! Was very impressed observing a little man helping out the family business during a late night shift and acing the cashier duties as well. The cannoli was on the slimmer side but still tasty, and we also tried out the Reece’s peanut butter bar which was too sweet for me. Regardless I need to try other selections next time.
Bova’s Bakery is the BEST!! I make sure to stop there at least once every time I visit Boston! The shop is so cute and homey. My favorite is the Brick Mousse! 10/10 recommend.

MODERN PASTRY SHOP REVIEWS
Quaint little shop that instantly draws you in with views of their desserts through the glass. Their desserts looked mouthwatering. So many that I wanted to try but didn’t get a chance to. This was my first experience eating a cannoli and it was eye opening. They make them fresh to order which is different than other shops nearby. You can customize, and while it overall is less options, it’s worth it considering it’s made fresh the moment you order it. It’s one of those places you have to try if you’re visiting Boston.
So very delicious! We only got a cannoli, but it was definitely one of the very best I've had -- the ricotta was light, the chocolate chips were a bit dark and tasty while adding great texture, and the shell was wonderfully fresh (not soft or stale at all). They only take cash, which was probably a good thing, because I would have gotten a whole bunch more if they would have taken card.
While in Boston for NYE with friends we decided to check out Modern. We always go to Mike’s but I am so glad we changed it up. The selection was incredible, they offer both coffee and hot chocolate as well as seating to enjoy your treats. The showcases were filled with a variety of Italian confectionaries to meet everyone’s taste.
