My grandson and I had an amazing time walking the trail. We had a great conversation and enjoyed the peaceful scenery. There were a lot of families gathered for Easter weekend. Someone was feeding the geese, and some children were chasing them. However, a family member called the children back after noticing this, which I was grateful for. It is important to read the signs to ensure these animals can remain peaceful in their natural habitat.
Beautiful state park, we visited on New years day and it was extremely crowded. I would imagine being so close to Columbia that this is the city folks daytrip getaway. Several trails, play grounds, picnic areas, restrooms, lake with rentals, and a great park office/shop. I'm assuming these are Angel Oaks like around Charleston, they're beautiful and a natural playground for the kids.
This park is absolutely breathtaking. The trails are well marked with ample space for everyone coming in different directions. Plenty to do off the trails from fishing, to canoes, volleyball space and picnic shelters scattered throughout. My family and I have such a great time being together here.
