"Arroyo Verde Park is a scenic natural preserve and recreational resource that comprises 132 acres of relatively rugged land. This nature area encompasses 14 acres of open grass areas lined with trees. This is a 2.3-mile loop trail with an elevation gain of 488 feet. This loop-type trail is generally considered a moderately challenging route and approximately takes 1 hour and 11 minutes to complete. The trail runs through the natural coastal sage scrub habitat. Arroyo Verde Park also features BBQ grills, electrical outlets, individual picnic sites, a nature center, several miles of hiking trails, restrooms, and several children's play areas. Arroyo Verde Park also features various facilities such as a baseball field, public restrooms, and a wheelchair-accessible parking lot for the convenience of the visitors.

2026 Update: Arroyo Verde Park allows dogs on leashes. Parking is free except on holidays, Saturdays, and Sundays."

"Harmon Canyon Preserve covers over 2,123 acres of ridgelines and canyons and features coastal sage scrub and coast live oak woodland habitats. This is a 7.2-mile out-and-back trail with an elevation gain of 971 feet. This is an out-and-back type of trail, which is generally considered a moderately challenging route. This trail takes around 3 hours and 4 minutes to complete. The preserve is described as perfectly maintained, with clear paths and ample space, making it enjoyable for various activities. Visitors engage in activities like sunset walks, picnics, and enjoy the diverse flora and fauna. The trail also brings an abundance of birds, bees, wildflowers, and butterflies to the area. Harmon Canyon Preserve features a diverse array of amenities such as kid-friendly hikes, public restrooms, and designated leash areas for dogs.

2026 Update: Harmon Canyon Preserve features coastal live views like oak woodland habitats and Santa Monica Mountains and Island national parks to explore trails. Once the park parking is closed, a private security company charges a $100 fee to come out and reopen it."
