Nice park/trail I stumbled on while staying at a hotel less than two miles away. It wasn't busy so parking was easy but I imagine that could be difficult on a weekend. No dogs allowed. Trails were very easy and pretty clean except for a little mud. Lots of birds, reptiles, butterflies, interesting plants for a guy from Virginia. No bugs too. Only negative i can think of is the traffic noise and some power lines you have to walk under. Otherwise a great reprieve from a full a day visiting wastewater treatment plants.
If you want to see the real Florida this is your spot! This is my favorite place to bike. Mostly packed trails but there are areas of soft sugar sand so if you have anything other than a mountain bike it will be a struggle. Lots of hikers as well. Tons of wildlife and natural beauty so close to town! Don't be scared of the sun bathing Gators, they don't bother people unless they are bothered or you're in their territory which is the water. Definitely not a place to swim!
Amazingly serene trails that wind on both path and bridge across wetlands and dry areas alike. Bring your camera, lots of water, and a snack or packed lunch in a backpack. It's worth spending the afternoon here if you like nature.
