One of many treasures in Pueblo. This is obviously the dam, if you continue on highway 96 heading west you can then drive on a dirt road that wraps around the back side of the lake. Many trails and places to fish and just get a better look at the entire lake. Where this picture was taken is a great place to get into the water to going tubing or kayaking.
Great wide open area campgrounds. Good lake access. The water was very high this year but still a great time near the shore. We used some trails to walk down to the water. Dump station and water available. The showers were nice and clean also. Stars at night were incredible for viewing. Very hot in August typically in Pueblo fyi.
I live locally. Pueblo lake offers great warm water (for Colorado) fishing, excellent hiking and mountain biking. If you take your dog on the trail be sure to watch for mountain bikers.
