Beautiful place to hiking. The trail has options for biking/hiking and hike only area. The range is pretty big, straight forward easy to navigate trail! You can see red rock amphitheater upon getting to the top. Some part of the trail has red soil which is perfect condition for rattlesnake to sunbath, even during winter. Some shade area still has snow covered but mostly clear throughout the trail. Part of the trail has large rocks can be a bit difficult for bike. Any trail close to Denver without getting onto I-70 W of Denver will most likely be busy throughout the day.
This was a good trail and had great views. The trail starts off steep for the first couple of miles. I’m from Kansas and am not used to mountain running so it may not be too bad if you are used to mountains. I ventured off onto the Meadow Trail and Tower Loop trail and they were both nice. Saw about 30 deer while on the trail. I arrived about 7:00am on a Tuesday morning and only saw a few other people on the trail.
Interesting place for hiking with breathtaking views of mountains and nature. Plenty of trails and good photo opportunities. You’ll also learn some history along the way. It’s definitely a great escape. I recommend it.
