HOLLYWOOD HISTORICAL SOCIETY REVIEWS
The house I visited was arranged as a surprise for me. I love learning about Florida history. This is a great place to start learning about the Hollywood area. The ladies giving tours of the house are all native to the area. The tour is very well informed, and even a walking tour guide book is available. The house is well preserved and very much worth the visit.
Really interesting experience. I appreciate the Halloween haunted house. It was fun and I will be back for a tour of the Hammerstein house. I am excited to learn more about our city.
Such a wonderful organization to be with. People who are caring and out to make a difference in the community and preserving history.

Marine Environmental Education Center at the Carpenter House is one of the most famous places in Hollywood, FL. MARINE ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CENTER AT THE CARPENTER HOUSE REVIEWS
We had an amazing experience here! From the minute we walked in, we were greeted and welcomed. We loved engaging with the shark and turtle tracker in the bungalow. Then we went up into the carpenter home and loved seeing the interactive activities for kids and the historical preservation of the home on display. We were assisted by an employee (the nicest person- taller, beard, cannot remember his name) but he showed us old photos of the families and shared his knowledge of the history of the home. I asked him if he had worked at the Marine Environmental Education center for a long time (he was so welcoming, knowledgeable and engaging) and to my shock, he said he had only been on with them 1 week! Wonderful human and a great hire- made us feel so comfortable asking questions and getting to appreciate the space and learning. I imagine Jude would be so happy to know her home has a new life and serves to educate the community and foster deeper care for the environment. Thank you!!
This center is located about 1/4 mile north of the Sheridan St. Parking lot. It is in a former home grant to the city in Trust. The center is primarily devoted to the protection of sea turtles but also promotes the protection of sea life in general. The prime exhibit is "Captain" a 17 year old green turtle that has been rescued but is unsuitable for release. There are a number of "artworks" created from refuse collected from Hollywood beach. The center is certainly worth a visit especially for famlies with small children. Expect to spend about 1/2 hour. Entrance is free but a donation is appreciated.
Great place to learn about sea turtles and local and invasive species. The pool is home to two rescued sea turtles Captain & Coral. Explore the gift shop or the education center on the 2nd floor. During season learn about the turtle release program.
