" Shelby DeBause obtained her Master's degree from Appalachian State University and completed a two-year residency at a psychiatric hospital in the D.C. area. She specializes in working with adolescent girls, women, and their families and sees clients with various mood disorders, including anxiety and depression. She has a special interest in helping those who struggle with fertility and postpartum mood disturbances, food and body image concerns, spiritual issues, and low self-esteem. DeBause serves as the Clinical Director at the Genesis Counseling Center. The caring therapists provide evidence-based therapies from a Christian perspective to help individuals, couples, and families overcome life’s challenges.
2026 Highlights: Shelby DeBause is a clinical member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. She strongly believes in showing compassion and affirmation to all clients, regardless of their backgrounds or issues. "
