I was having lower back and leg pain. I was losing the feelings in both legs and was at a point where I would experience loss of strength walking up stairs to the point that I would fall because I could not tell where my feet were and there was no feedback and no leg strength due to that lack of feedback. I had been to a couple of spinal surgeons and had tried chiropractic decompression, adjustments, physical therapy, and even stem cell treatments. All were great but all were temporary issues. One of our friends, a former spinal center nurse, suggested we look for a neurosurgeon and not just a spinal surgeon. I did some research and discovered a report on Dr. Rubin's background, work environment (educational, research, and places of practice) and decided to talk with him about my issues. After meeting with Dr. Rubin and going through the options, the details of what was causing the issues and a review of what needed to be done, I and my wife were convinced we wanted Dr. Rubin to be our neurosurgeon. We could not have made a better choice. The surgery was not simple due to the condition of my vertebrae, but Dr. Rubin was able to repair the damage to the point that I am totally pain free, have complete functionality in my legs, and I can once again participate in normal activities again to a reasonable level. I have and will continue to recommend Dr. Rubin to anyone who has spine and/or neurological issues. Asking for a consultation may lead to the healing that you need.. It did for me.
First of all, Dr. Rubin has excellent bed-side manner and is very attentive to what you say and ask. He is very patient and understanding when you ask questions about what's going on with you. About the surgery: I had a pinched nerve causing pretty severe pain in my left leg. I woke up from surgery with no pain in my leg. Before surgery, in reading and talking with Dr. Rubin, I had a small expectation that would have instant relief. Not only was the pain immediately gone, the recovery was virtually pain free as well. I had some very slight discomfort at the incision site, but there was no pain from my leg or the incision. My wife was very complimentary of Dr. Rubin as well. Multiple times before and after surgery he visited with her updating her on my status and condition. She had a great comfort because of this which gave me great comfort.
I took my sister to see Dr. Rubin. The staff was professional and kind. Dr. Rubin was outstanding! He has a great beside manner and made my sister feel very comfortable. He took his time to explain everything and answered all of our questions. I highly recommend this office.
