"National Steinbeck Center is a major United States literary museum that is dedicated to a single author. The museum began as an initiative by the local community and civic leaders to create a medium for his writings and one that would encourage and launch successful literacy and educational programming. “Salinas Sports Complex is operated by the California Rodeo Association, which gives back upwards of $500,000 to the local community each year. The complex's main feature is a 17,000-seat stadium for the California Rodeo Salinas. The Sports Complex was created by the California Rodeo Association in collaboration with the City of Salinas to hold a wide range of community and sporting events, including concerts, football and soccer games, motorsports competitions, festivals, and graduations. The facility is situated on 80 acres of City of Salinas-owned property in Sherwood Park. NATIONAL STEINBECK CENTER REVIEWS

This is an amazing museum, much larger than I expected. It covers the entirety of Steinbeck's life and helps us to understand the influences shaping his writing. Some of the exhibits are interactive and quite fun. There are video displays showing segments of his works that ended up being filmed. A word or two about the staff. We got lost twice getting to the museum. We called the museum and staff patiently gave us directions to get us back on track. They were cheerful and friendly, and greeted us warmly once our group got to the museum. Signage is confusing. The museum is part of a college campus. Signage for the campus is much more prominent than signage for the museum. There is a large, low-cost public parking garage in close proximity to the museum and many restaurants close by.

A must stop for any Steinbeck fan, and very interesting and informative for everyone. The exhibits are quite detailed and give you good information about his major works including Grapes of Wrath, Of Mice and Men, Cannery Row and East of Eden. Also, plenty of fantastic biographical information as well as giving you a sense of what it was like for him to grow up in Salinas.

So glad I got to come here! Steinbeck is my all time favorite author and “East of Eden” is my favorite book! They have an amazing exhibit with the movie playing on a loop! I could stay for hours. I hope more people come to visit! His house is 2 blocks away! Learned a lot more about the great man.

MONTEREY ZOO REVIEWS

Had a great experience visiting this zoo. Small compared to San Francisco or San Diego but it's still a great place for the kids. My favorite spot was the rhinoceros enclosure. All the animals were being themselves and they ranged in all shapes and sizes. The Lemurs were the most active and playful. They offer some after hour packages where you can feed the tigers or put the rhinos to bed!!! Only thing I would have to place as a con were some of the people at the front desk. The women that were there weren't too friendly nor did they mention any of the after hour activities until we tried them for info. The parking lot is also small. Either way it's a good environment to teach the younger generation. Wish they had a tour guide.

We love the Monterey Zoo. Our family has come here the past few years for our wedding anniversary trip but before that I had come about 10 years ago. It’s so exciting to see how far the facility has come. The enclosures have always been clean and the animals have always seemed well taken care of.

The zoo is fairly new. All the animals looked to be in great shape. The hyena was on a concrete pad along with some of the other animals which was sad to see. Did enjoy it though.

SALINAS SPORTS COMPLEX REVIEWS

Ths stadium is an alright stadium with sanitary facilities and not too big. Since I went there to see a rodeo I need to talk about this: Oh boy... as an European I wanted to experience something American... And I feel there are only a few things which can top a Rodeo. Half of the time I didn't even know where to look because there was so much going on,...hell,... Sometimes I didn't even know what was going on. It's Amazing and fun event. The kids corral was really cool, the food was awesome and the show itself: just terrific. So get your hat, grab some popcorn and go see this.

Great place for a baseball tournament. Spacious and clean facilities. Food isn’t too expensive. Though they did run out of many food items Saturday evening. Overall great weekend.

From the Salinas Rodeo, to Motor Sportsfest with Montster trucks, tractor pulls and motorcycle tricks, to graduations...This is the best small town venue.
