The views from this park are amazing! The park itself is elevated and the various trails afford hiking for different abilities. If hiking isn't your thing, then bring a picnic basket and enjoy the scenery. I did notice that there weren't many shade trees, so I would suggest going earlier in the day. If you bring your dog, bring plenty of water for both of you. Most people were respectful of the leash law and others, although I'm told once on the trails people do let their dogs roam free.

What a treat to have this type of park in LA! It's free to get in, parking is easy, and the grounds are very beautiful. You can expect it to be very busy, but it's still worth checking out at least once. There's a library with awesome architecture, a play ground, a Japanese garden area and a baseball/soccer area. A perfect park for a picnic.

This park is pretty great for just about anything -- first of all, it's HUGE, with tons of open space lined with grass and trees. You can find a quiet private place for a picnic, run free in the grass, ride bikes along the paths, walk dogs, play on the equipment, enjoy free outdoor concerts and events, or hit up the skate park. So much to do, in a gorgeous tranquil setting.
