Peter & his team were absolutely amazing to work with! From start to finish, their attention to detail, guidance, ability to problem solve, be creative, innovative & think outside of the box all truly helped to make our dream house become a reality! We live abroad full time & the team did regular walk throughs of the job site, provided us with insight & detailed notes/pictures any time we needed them. Peter and Catalina prepared schematic plans for the renovation of my home in Pine Township, and I could not have been more pleased. Their ideas were creative yet practical, with sufficient detail to hand over to my contractor. I would recommend them to anyone interested in renovating their home.

It may seem odd to write a review about a project from 17 years ago. But this was a big project for us and it has stood the test of time – looking as good today as it did in 2006. What did we do? We raised the roof on our third floor, changing our unusable attic into an amazing living space including a full bathroom with a whirlpool tub and steam shower; a sitting area with a fireplace; an exercise area; and office space for my wife and me. We wanted more space, but we also did not want the addition to ruin the aesthetics of the exterior of our house. We looked for an architect who could bring our ideas to life. Our first attempt was not a good match for us. Then we found Margittai Architects (MA). Peter Margittai was the lead on our project, and others in the firm were also involved. They listened to our ideas and created drawings that were well beyond our imagination. They were patient as we explored a variety of options for the main living space and bathroom. Peter’s design maximized our interior space, while minimizing disruption to the front view of our exterior. Inside, the east and west sides of the room visually complement each other, highlighting the roof design along with beautiful windows. We have built-in desks, file drawers, and bookshelves. The separate HVAC system is tucked under the eaves of the house. There are so many small touches that make the space extra special. For example, Peter cleverly ran duct work through the top of our bookshelf in the center of the room to discreetly deliver heating and cooling without having to run ductwork around the perimeter of the room. The desk areas were also thoughtfully designed to contain useful drawers and spacious countertops. His staff also assisted in choosing warm paint colors and finishes for the main room. For our third-floor bathroom, Peter magically turned a small space into a beautifully functional bathroom. To overcome the slope of the ceiling, he suggested putting a skylight above the sink and above the whirlpool tub. To make the room appear larger, the wall that divides the room for the shower is completely glass. MA also recommended and helped to select all of the plumbing and fixtures. Margittai Architects worked very well with our contractor to ensure that the design was carried out properly and to work through any necessary changes during the construction process. I am very particular about design and finish. The final product exceeded our expectations. We have enjoyed this space for many years…and during the pandemic it was our go to place where we worked all day and relaxed in the evenings. Seventeen years later, we have changed little in the room, and it still looks great! My wife Cindy and I highly recommend Margittai Architects!
