3 Best Driving Schools in Albany, NY

I wanted to get my license while finishing up my fall semester in college and this driving school was a lifesaver! My instructor was Charlie - he's a very calm and patient man and really helped me feel comfortable and confident on the road. If you're someone who's like me and are getting your license a little later in life, this is the driving school to go! They also pick you up and drop you off when you do your lessons so I 10/10 would recommend - especially if you're a student within the Albany area and have no means on getting to the area on your own.

This driving school is absolutely fantastic! They provide excellent, personalized instruction with patient and knowledgeable instructors. Charlie is incredibly helpful, responds quickly, and makes communication a breeze. I also loved how they scheduled a lesson right before my test—it was so convenient and well-planned. My instructor, Tim, was amazing, offering practical strategies and emphasizing safe driving habits, which helped me pass my test on the first try. I couldn’t recommend them more highly!

This place has great pricing and bundle deals that are much better than most places. Charlie is extremely helpful and very fast responses in my opinion. Very easy to communicate to the driving school. I love how they set up a lesson right before the test. I also want to mention my driving instructor Norman is the calmest instructor and very helpful in strategies to drive. It’s a very welcoming vibes I’ve gotten from this school. I have and will continue recommending it.

I’ve always had pretty bad driving anxiety. However, after moving to Albany from a very small town in northern Michigan (with little driving experience) my driving anxiety increased. At 26 and still not having a license, I needed help. At the end of October I started taking lessons with John, who helped build my confidence. John was kind, patient and very understanding. He made me feel at ease behind the wheel and helped me in the areas I struggled. Less than two months later, I passed the road test on my first try! I definitely recommend Right Way Driving Center! From my 5hr course with Tony (he made a 5hr zoom class tolerable), to Jessica in the office (SO sweet!) and my instructor John, I had a wonderful experience.

Right Way is awesome. We had 2 girls learning to drive at the same time, with very different needs (one more cautious, one more distracted). This was the perfect place, it took all the pressure off us getting them to and from lessons, as they picked them right up at home. They were incredibly flexible and patient with the girls. Both passed their test on the first try, and are much better drivers because of their time with Right Way.

Kathy in the office is so kind and fast ! You can tell she’s good at her job and enjoys it! Daryl was the one giving me my lesson and he was such a joy, he made me very comfortable !! Highly recommend, my experience has been a breeze ! :) super happy.
