BENJI'S FRENCH BASQUE RESTAURANT REVIEWS
Benji's is awesome. Two of us had the fried chicken and we added garlic. Another has the shrimp scampi and she said it was great. The other party had the lamb and it was perfectly done. This place has the best pickled tongue I have ever eaten. I couldn't stop eating it. The French fries were bomb as were the marinated tomatoes. Blue cheese and hard jack was a perfect add on. The service was phenomenal. Very attentive without being over board. We will definitely go again.
One of our favorite restaurants, lots of choices on the menu and have never had a bad meal here. The French dip sandwich is delicious and I don't know how they make their salad dressing but it is soooo yummy! Vegetarian options: Bread, salad, soup and beans, marinated tomatoes are all delicious Parking: Lots of parking all near the front of restaurant, plenty of handicapped spaces too.
Excellent Basque experience in Bakersfield. The entire meal was fantastic. Reasonably priced wines and full plates! The picked tongue was phenomenal and my ribeye perfectly cooked. Thank you for a great meal!

PYRENEES CAFE REVIEWS
Never tried Basque food before so swung by for a break in the middle of my road trip. The entrance is easy to miss. Outside is a little dingy, but lots of street parking available. Seems like a popular local hangout with a restaurant and bar attached. I got dinner with the basque style setup and wound up with a Stella Artois box-full of takeout containers—definitely a first, lugging that giant box back to the car! It was pricey but more than enough food for two and averaged out well with large portions. Everything was delicious (and strongly flavored). Personally loved the cabbage soup and penne pasta. Pickled tongue was different, but pretty good and something I’m glad I got to try. I don’t know what magic they used to make the salad—I literally kept poking at it between bites—but it was so good! Beans and banana peppers I guess? Who knew. Pyrenees has good food that packs a punch, stop by if you get the chance.
Great food. If you don’t want the main entrée, you can just order the "set up". It's worth it; you get lots of food. The pickled tongue was actually good. We will go back when we're in town. Parking: Parking lot has a fence around it. That's good because this restaurant is located in a sketchy part of town. There was a security guard there also.
I truly don't know why the name of this restaurant is Pyrenees, mountains in Europe, and they are serving Mexican food. I guess Spanish food is so unknown that they always end up selling Mexican? Well, they do have a lot to choose around and really good quality.
