2026 Update: Mattos Monuments family has been involved in creating memorials and monuments for over 125 years, spanning five generations. Over this time, the family has gained extensive experience in the design, fabrication, and installation of cemetery monuments, working with families to ensure that memorials appropriately recognize the individuals being commemorated. Part of this work includes guiding cemetery rules, regulations, and restrictions to make sure that memorials comply with local standards, as requirements can vary between cemeteries. Since its establishment in 1897, Mattos Monuments has developed long-standing working relationships with cemeteries throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, which allows for a detailed understanding of each cemetery’s policies and practices. A range of granite materials, sizes, and shapes is available, enabling families to select memorial options that suit both their aesthetic preferences and budgetary considerations. Staff assists in selecting the memorial’s material, size, shape, color, and overall design, offering guidance for both pre-existing styles and fully customized designs. These designs can reflect the life, interests, and memories of the individual being honored, while still complying with cemetery standards. All work is performed in-house using standard materials and established craftsmanship practices, with attention to durability, structural integrity, and quality. Team members are available throughout the process to answer questions and provide guidance, including advice on selecting materials, understanding cemetery requirements, coordinating installation, and reviewing design options. This approach ensures that families have access to accurate information and practical assistance when making decisions about the creation of a memorial, while maintaining consistent standards of workmanship and material quality across all projects.
