CAMEL'S BACK PARK REVIEWS
Wonderful place located just to the north part of the city. Dont fear the super steep stairs...slow and steady you'll get up there and see the incredible panoramic views. Then you can take one of the many easy walking path back down. Could easily add this to a daily or weekly exercise routine!
Great trails, very relaxed atmosphere. Do yourself a favor, hike up to the top and enjoy the gorgeous view. You will see downtown area, more trails and the Capitol building. The playground is usually pretty full, but very friendly environment.
I loved coming here as a little kid with my mom and siblings. We used to ride toboggans down the giant hill right up until they put those stairs in. It was unsafe but super fun, and that was all that mattered at the time. There’s also great hiking trails, amazing views, and lots of friendly people. Everyone picks up their dog’s poop which is also very nice. If you’re ever bored on the weekend with nothing to do, come here for some peace and fresh air.

THE MILITARY RESERVE REVIEWS
SOoooo much to explore!! Dog trails, bike trails, horse trails.... human trails... well, you get the point! There is literally, a seemingly- never ending system of trails all around, that just beckon you to wander one direction or the other! The cemetery is pretty neat to look at, and we’ve seen plenty of wildlife (the nonscary variety) while we’ve been up there. We really like taking the small staircase up to the beautiful city vista and then to the picnic area to overlook where we just hiked up. You could easily spend a number of hours out here without getting bored! Just make sure to use a restroom ahead of time- only one up there and sadly, it’s not always stocked. Bring your own TP if you gotta go! Still looking forward to our next adventure anyways!!..
Ok if you haven't been here, it's about to be your new favorite place in boise. I've been going here with my dog for years and I never tire of it. There's long trails and they all loop together so you can't really get lost, they'll all get you home eventually. You can take mountain bikes up here or go jogging and take your dog too. There's off leash and on leash trails everywhere and every one that comes here is very friendly. Plus there are so many different trails that you can pick a new one every time. They go back for miles and miles and sometimes you'll find trails hidden in trees and canyons, it's pretty great to adventure around. There's a perfect amount of people that go so that you can still maintain some privacy, but at the same time be safe because there are always people decently close by. Love this place.
We parked down by the military reserve, but this review is for the trail system itself. This was an unexpected trail-runners dream find! We were looking for some local trails to run on during a short stop-over, and wow! I thought we'd just find some old dusty road. Not so! I had no idea that Boise had these trails. We went in early May, so it was still green and not too hot and dusty. We got in an 11.4 mile run, with outstanding views and limited trail traffic, especially in the more remote trail areas. Took the Kestrel, Crestline & Sidewinder route, and looped back. Was about 1600 ft of elevation gain so it was challenging and we could run the whole way, without it being a killer (or just a hike). People on the trails were pleasant, cyclists were courteous. NOTE: we started early, at about 7 am (on Sunday). By the time we were getting back, around 9 am, it was already getting hot and was very busy, so if you're going, go early or you may have trouble getting a decent parking spot and/or you'll find the trails much more crowded.

HULLS GULCH RESERVE REVIEWS
We hike this constellation of trails daily; what a gift to have these miles and miles of trails blocks from our backyard. That being said, usage has dramatically increased the last couple years, and with it: wear and tear on the trails, garbage, erosion and a decline in trail etiquette. It is incumbent upon us all to maintain these trails so that they can be lovingly hiked, run and biked for generations to come.
All my youth is tied up in those there foot hills, been living in the North End of Boise all of my life so far. Now sharing the experience with my daughter, as we hiked down one of the many trails in the Foothills behind Camels Back park today. She noticed the glow of the yellow grass as the sun was starting to set and decided to take a picture.
Lovely area to get a quick exercise in. You can do laps on the very steep section up the "camel's back." The area is pretty popular on the days with good weather, so it gives the park a lively scene. Plus, it's next to the hipster part of town where you can grab some delicious coffee and bagel sandwich at the nearby coffee shop.
