DALEY RANCH REVIEWS
Large open park with connecting trails. Quite steep from the start but once you get over that first hump the central trail stays easiest the walk. The trails heading northwest and northeast can have some challenging areas. Unfortunately the severe rain earlier this year has damaged the trails. Use hiking poles if you have them. You can stay out here for 4-6 hours, depending on your route and pace. Free parking, even on busy days like today I could easily find a spot. You can use the restrooms at the lake, which is a few minutes walk from parking and free entry when you walk. Main restroom building is located near the Ranch House. There are trash cans located all over the park and it definitely helps keeping the trails clean. Altho it can look busy, once you're more on the the outer sides of the park you have lots of quiet. Some more narrow trails are more suitable for mountain bikers that hikers.
Daley Ranch is an exceptional place to go hiking. There are many trails to choose from that vary in difficulty, and the ranch offers beautiful scenery of a diverse landscape.
Fun free park to take family for mild hike. Not extremely hard but can make it long as you want to. Lots of trails and not super crowded.

Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve is one of the top-rated and well-maintained hiking trails. Lovely hike, the best part of this hike is it’s reasonably green, first half of the hike. Also you can see beautiful river in the starting point. When you reached top of the hill, there is about 11 miles of hiking trail. Also, it’s possible to do biking but that will be hard. You can also see the reservoir that is used for emergency purpose and the amount of water it can store will be enough for six months. If you walk through overlook park, you will see the lake hodge in the eastern part of vantage point. The parking is quite challenge, there are two parking lots but fills quickly so look for the parking on the side of road.
We did a beautiful 5.5mile hike here. We started with the Botanical trail which then merged with the Way Up trail. It had a decent incline, but became less steep towards the top. There were a lot of other trails we could have taken to lengthen our hike, but we were happy going over to the overlook of the dam. I loved that the hike starts/ends by a river. It was a great place to sit and recharge with a snack.
Great Place To Hike, The trails are well kept, wide and clean, the scenery is absolutely beautiful, it is truly amongst the best hiking trails in San Diego, it is also open most days of the year. I highly recommend it.

Kit Carson Park is a well-renowned 285-acre municipal park in Escondido, CA. The park was named after Captain John C. Fremont's guide, Christopher (Kit) Carson, who led him through the Sierra Nevada Mountains. There are many open walking pathways and areas for families to relax and enjoy themselves. The park offers picnic spaces on a first-come, first-served basis. Shady areas with tables and grills are provided. They also have fantastic discoveries, such as a lake and disk golf course. The park is located in a valley about five miles to the west of where Kit Carson fought in the Battle of San Pasqual. The park has a 5-acre arboretum, Iris Sankey Magical Garden, and three ponds, Tree Lake, Duck Lake, and Eagle Scout Lake.

KIT CARSON PARK REVIEWS
Nice, very large park with baseball, softball, tennis, disc golf, playgrounds, picnic facilities, and pond. Really offers a lot to do. The walk around park via the loop trail is pretty and can be done in under an hour. My pics were looking at critters & plants. The fields and park was in great shape on my visit.
Beautiful park! There are lakes that you can go to and feed the ducks. Nice trails and great outdoor. We came in to check Queen califia's magical circle. However, they are only open two days out of the week on Tuesday and Thursday. Lots of things to do for the family.
Park is nice and huge with nice shades trail. There is discs park as well which is fun. Only that some targets are closer to creek and discs getting into water isn’t fun. If you go on Tuesday and Thursday you can enter into Queen Califa’s Magical Park which is amazing.
