"Livingston Park features an excellent hiking trail and is considered an easy route, which gains only 13 feet in elevation. The trail features three playgrounds, one for toddlers, one for preschoolers, and one for older children. This nature space has a beautiful wooded trail and is a wonderful place to bring your pet for an on-leash walk. The hiking trail allows visitors to fish in the warmer seasons and ice skate in the winter months. This area also serves as a home to athletic leagues, hosts large events, and offers a variety of recreational opportunities. Livingston Park has amenities like a baseball diamond, a playground, a soccer field, a running track, and green space.

2026 Update: Livingston Park covers 131 acres in the north end of Manchester and offers a range of outdoor and recreational activities. The park features Dorrs Pond, which is used for fishing and ice skating, along with a walking and running trail that loops around the pond. The trail is about 0.9 miles long, approximately 10 feet wide, and includes boardwalk sections through wetland areas, with access points for fishing and boating. Additional amenities include a running track, baseball field, playground, and swimming pool. Children under 12 are required to be accompanied by an adult."

"Manchester Cedar Swamp Preserve has a total area of 640 acres and ensures a scenic view. The total length of the trail is 1.8 miles. The trail offers three great hiking paths and is considered easy, with an elevation gain ranging from 59 to 134 feet. The trail features a spacious parking area, inclusive informational signage, immersive interpretive points of interest, a non-gendered, family-friendly, ADA-compliant portable restroom, and an audio tour in English and Spanish. During the trail, visitors can see different varieties of trees, some of which are 450 years old. The trail is designed with community input and intended to be accessible and welcoming to everyone. Manchester Cedar Swamp Preserve features public restrooms, kid-friendly hikes, and a wheelchair-accessible parking lot for additional convenience for visitors.

2026 Update: Manchester Cedar Swamp Preserve has a natural wetland environment that includes black gum trees, some of which are more than 450 years old. It is wheelchair accessible and supports activities such as hiking, snowshoeing, and bird watching. The All Persons Trail is designed for visitors of all ability levels and offers interactive features along the route."

"Rock Rimmon Park has a total area of 140 acres of land and offers various great hiking trails. The elevation gain of the trail is 141 feet to 272 feet. This loop-type trail is generally considered a moderately challenging route and approximately takes 1 hour to complete. Visitors can take a short, relaxing hike to the 150-ft summit and take in the great southeasterly views of the city. At Rock Rimmon Park, hikers can catch a glimpse of the Uncanoonucs Mountains and their foothills. The flat areas at the top of the cliff in the trail make an excellent picnic spot for families. The trail has amenities like a DuPont pool, playground, pickleball courts, and a basketball court, all against a granite cliff.

2026 Update: Rock Rimmon Park offers hiking trails with scenic views of the surrounding area, including elevated spots that are suitable for picnics. It includes both open recreational spaces and wooded sections with a network of trails for exploration. The lower areas are commonly used for sports and general outdoor activities, while the wooded trails provide a quieter setting for hiking. Visitors can expect natural terrain and should wear appropriate footwear when using the trails."

LIVINGSTON PARK REVIEWS

Great place for a one mile hike around the pond. The paths are maintained well, and the park is teaming with water fowl, including ducks, geese and herons. The little bridge and wooden footpaths are wonderful. There are restrooms available right off the parking lot.

Livingston Park is elegant. There are clear trails. The views are breathtaking. There is a huge pond that that is in the middle. The trails go around the pond.

Great mile walk around the pond. Clean, maintained walking area. Bathrooms on site. Playground for the little ones. Picnic areas. Beautiful spot!

MANCHESTER CEDAR SWAMP REVIEWS

This is owned by The Nature Conservancy and I decided to try their all persons trail. It was very nice and the trail also connected to more difficult trail loops. It was easy to get to located off I-293. It seems like you can get here by bus too but I arrived by car and parked in their small parking lot.

Manchester Cedar Swamp is a very easy walk. You can take someone with wheelchairs another adaptive equipment. There is a nice Boardwalk to go over. A few signs to read along the way, and view benches to sit if needed. I recommend this walk to anybody.

There are 3 trails, one is very well maintained with gravel all year, there's beautiful benches and a few awesome nature lookouts- awesome for kids. The other 2 are in the woods and more of a hike, very beautiful and secluded. Saw many plants!

ROCK RIMMON PARK REVIEWS

Great place for a quick hike. I will say, although definitely achievable, the hike up the front face of the rock may be a small challenge for kids. My puppy and I did just fine. Once at the top there are other trails you can explore.

Love this park kid has a skate park, playground and a basketball court and mostly the quick hike that u can do you’ll enjoy view it’s worth .

We love this park! Our favorite thing is the gravity rail! You sit on it and it glides you across the way. Super fun. Nice open location.
