"Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park is a perfect place to experience a diverse range of recreational activities. The trail is located 22.1 miles from Miami Gardens. The park has two great hiking trails and is considered an easy trail. The elevation gain of the trail is 3 feet to 9 feet. Visitors can experience breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay from the historic 1825 Cape Florida lighthouse. There are guided tours through the lighthouse and the keeper’s cottage, or visitors can explore the trail on foot, by bicycle, or by boat or kayak. The trail also features various amenities such as rollerblading, wheelchair-accessible parking lots, barbecue grills, picnic tables, public restrooms, and kid-friendly hikes for the convenience of the visitors. Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park also has designated leash areas for pets.

"Oleta River State Park Trail offers a pleasant atmosphere with breathtaking views. The total length of the trail is 3.0 miles, and it is considered a moderately challenging route. The elevation gain is 26 feet, and it typically takes about 53 minutes to complete. The trail is excellent for hiking, walking, and biking. Oleta River State Park also features 15 miles of off-road bicycling trails and opportunities for paddling along lush mangrove forests. The park includes rustic, air-conditioned cabins and a youth campground for organized groups. Dogs are allowed on the trail but must remain on a leash.

2026 Update: Oleta River State Park has mountain bike trails, hiking and biking trails surrounded by natural landscapes and mangrove forest areas. Visitors can enjoy outdoor activities such as walking, mountain biking, fishing, kayaking, camping, and beach access within the park. The area includes amenities such as cabins, picnic pavilions, restrooms, parking facilities, Wi-Fi access, pet-friendly spaces, a pool, and concession and restaurant services. Canoe and kayak launch areas are also available for water recreation. The park provides a natural setting suitable for outdoor exploration and recreational activities for individuals, families, and groups."

BILL BAGGS CAPE FLORIDA STATE PARK REVIEWS

Make sure you get here early if you're going on the weekend! They get really busy! The lighthouse is a great climb, and I loved going all the way to the top to see the light. The beach there is beautiful with plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the day. We didn't get to visit the Lighthouse Cafe, so we've already added that to plasma for our next visit! If you have kids, check the height requirement on the lighthouse, make sure you wear shoes, and get there before it (the lighthouse) closes at noon.

The road is very enjoyable, the park is very calm and beautiful (maybe because it was a weekday) Key Biscane is a very beautiful neighborhood where we passed. We loved going to the tip of the island. There are beaches to swim in. The sea can be very windy and wavy. There are facilities such as cafes, toilets, sun beds, umbrellas in the park. I think it is a pleasant route. Recommended.

Beautiful setting. The concrete path to and around the light house has many benches that are shaded where you can sit and enjoy the warm salty air.

OLETA RIVER STATE PARK REVIEWS

Love this park. Not really made for hiking but there are a few trails. Good place for bike trails and water activities. We typically rent a kayak and go out to the Bay area or beach area. There is also an island that is not too far off that has some wild racoons. I call them wild but they basically walk right up to humans and beg for food. They are super cute. Only drawback is that the island is often full of boaters blaring terrible music like they own the island. Also once you get out of the park area proper and into the bay there is a fairly strong current so be prepared to paddle.

Beautiful and diverse, with amazing and some challenging mountain bike trails (bring a helmet! for some death defying action lol) there's flat and paved trails as well, for skating too! Kayaking and other rentals, through the mangrove lined river with some mangrove tunnels. You can get lost there, right outside of a major city and beach. Worth exploring again and again.

Wow - this park is absolutely beautiful…. A great place to go on a weekend day when you can’t think of anything to do. There are amazing bike trails and beautiful beaches. The staff are not so friendly, however, but no shock there. Most of them seem to be seasonal hires or GenZ kids.

A really nice park with lots of raccoons, foxes, iguanas, and fish in the bodies of water. The trails are well maintained as well as the children's playground areas. There are plenty of public restrooms that are also well kept. There is also a sizeable hill that has a nice view at the top that my daughter loves. I've been coming to this park since I was little for family picnics, now I bring my daughter and we enjoy it the same way. Photo 1 in review by Abigail Vassallo

Went to visit family in Florida and they took us here for a BBQ. We all had a fantastic time. The park is BEAUTIFUL! Lots of wildlife, the raccoons are used to visitors, and just want food. There's also a TON of HUGE iguanas. The kids absolutely Loved climbing all over the rock castle there. If you ever visit, it is a peaceful retreat from the traffic, there are picnic tables and BBQs as well.

My favorite park, this is Greynolds Park for my looking all the pure nature, love the reflection on the water, i love to walk around the park.
