“Turkey Creek Sanctuary sprawls across a vast expanse of land, encompassing salty hammock and sand pine ridge habitats. The sanctuary boasts jogging trails winding through native forests leading to Turkey Creek, a prime spot for observing birds, turtles, manatees, alligators, and other local wildlife. As part of the Great Florida Birding Trail's East Florida section, the sanctuary offers guided tours along the boardwalk and various trails, focusing on the diverse animals and plants within its boundaries. These tours typically cover approximately 1 to 1.5 miles and last around 1 to 1 1/4 hours. Visitors are encouraged to bring field guides to identify Florida's native flora and fauna. Public access and parking are available at Turkey Creek Sanctuary, which features a 1.85-mile boardwalk for leisurely exploration.”
