“Tyler State Park is an excellent state park located north of Tyler, Texas. The Civilian Conservation Corps built it in the 1930s. This park in Smith County spans 985.5 acres and features a 64-acre lake. The park features a serene, 64-acre spring-fed lake, 100-foot tall trees, and historic structures. The park has three fishing piers and a boat ramp. The park's centerpiece accommodates fishing, swimming, canoes, and slow-moving boats. Visitors can also borrow fishing rods, reels, and tackle boxes as part of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's Tackle Loaner Program. Visitors can rent a boat year-round or bring their own; the Texas State Park Store rents canoes, paddleboats, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and johnboats. Campsites, cabins, or screened shelters are available for overnight stays.
