I've lived in the Bay Area all my life and have never been here. What a hidden gem! If you've got little kids, the mini farm is awesome to check out and feed the animals and if you're looking for beautiful hiking trails , Tilden has that in abundance. Oh....and it's free?! Bit of a winding road and drive to get there but totally worth it AND on the way there's BEAUTIFUL views of the Bay overlooking San Francisco.
A very nice area with many hiking trails, scenic viewpoints, and a lot of fun activities for family and kids. There is a farm where kids can feed farm animals. There is also a fun steam train ride around the forest with very nice views. Along the roads and hiking trails there are multiple viewpoints with a panoramic view of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge.
Always a beautiful spot to hike, be a quick loop or an all day adventure. Trails are marked and parking is plentiful. Dogs allowed on some trails. These photos are from the Jewel Lake Loop! Definitely worth a visit. Another stellar East Bay park.
