Really high quality sushi with simple design. Price is pretty hefty but the rolls are really good especially the eel and rainbow rolls. A bit of a wait if you arrive right as they open. Recommend ordering the rolls and the short ribs. Squid is okay, shrimp skewers are not worth it. The terrayaki salmon is pretty good, and the katsus are all definitely very crispy but I would order raw fish if I were here as that is definitely their specialty.
We came for a late dinner. It was packed but everyone was still super warm and welcoming. Our server and hostess were so nice. The sushi and sous chefs were amazing and went above and beyond at the end of the night. We had the chawan mushi, gyoza, uni, tsukemono, sukiyaki, and beef katsu, and a taste of the tamago. Everything was superb and full of flavor. Eat in and make sure you try the tamago. You won't regret it.
After many years, this sushi and Japanese restaurant is still quite good and popular. The fish in my sashimi was fresh, the clam miso was quite hot (hate it when miso is like warm which often is many sushi restaurants). The service was pretty fast though they were busy as always.

TOP 3 KIRAKU REVIEWS
My partner took me here for my 21st birthday, bought me my first beer (Sapporo), and we had one heck of a night! The food is absolutely amazing. Like, prepare to get your mind blown. The best part of the menu in my opinion are the desserts. We had a sweet potato crème brûlée, and a fruit ice cream that was absolutely phenomenal. I don’t even have the words to describe the ice cream; Fruity, fresh, balanced, perfection!
I’ve been save this restaurant for 2 years and finally I made it here last week. The food is so delicious and the price is reasonable. We order 8 dishes and include tax and tip is less than $150. The restaurant is very small but the server and vide are good. Also, the food comes out pretty fast. Love it!
Went to Kiraku for dinner with friends and had a great time! You can pick your own Sake glass and we had a carafe of a sake recommended by our server. Everything we ordered (including the special of the night, tuna collar) was amazing! Would recommend to anyone.

TOP 3 IYASARE REVIEWS
I always make sure I have a reservation ahead at Iyasare when I visit Berkeley. If you dine inside, it can be a little noisy, but very energetic and beautiful and you can watch the chefs prepare the meal. The bar is always a good choice if there’s No seating in the parklet or outdoor dining. Everything is tastefully prepared from the miso soup to the salads to the sushi and entrées. I always make sure I get a ramen dish or soup and some hot tea…but go and explore and you’ll understand what everyone’s talking about.!
Olivia was our server and was simply fabulous! All meals GF, and experienced zero issues. Items which are naturallyade GF are all starred in the menu. Items were unique and delicious. We've been here many times and will continue coming back!
This place was phenomenal! The food was amazing and the staff were so kind and generous. 10/10 I would recommend this place to everyone.
