The building was built circa 1800 by Jean Mouton, who was one of the first settlers of Southwest Louisiana. Around 1825, his son, Alexandre, lived here. The Alexandre Mouton House has a rich narrative that makes it a treasured piece of Lafayette's history. Beginning with "Les Vingt Quatre," the Alexandre Mouton House has always been maintained by a dedicated group of women. Alexandre Mouton House is home to various treasured artifacts with their own stories.”
