Mississippi Children’s Museum provides unique experiences that encourage a passion for exploration, information, and learning in all children. The museum aims to inspire Mississippi’s children from all backgrounds to discover and achieve their potential. Mississippi Children’s Museum (MCM) was born in 1994. The museum creates unparalleled experiences to inspire excellence and a lifelong joy of learning. The museum provides volunteer opportunities as field trip chaperones for community or school organizations. Visitors can explore the Tale Treehouse in the Literacy Garden or dance on stage in the Express Yourself show. Field trips and group tours are available for 15 or more children. In addition, Mississippi Children’s Museum has a small nursing space on the museum's lower floor in the Express Yourself Room.

Inside, encounter more than 200 living species in their 100,000-gallon aquarium system and discover 73,000 square feet of permanent and temporary exhibits, which include deer, waterfowl, fossils, and Mississippi's endangered species. The museum provides ample and varied opportunities for nature walks, photography, and the observation of life. The museum showcases the varied landscapes of Mississippi, including a spectacular display of white-tailed deer and vibrant waterfowl. Every year, more than 100,000 visitors are inspired by the natural world presented in the museum's permanent and special exhibitions.
