We arrived just as the museum was opening and enjoyed walking through the exhibits without a crowd. Because the staff were expecting a large number of school children, there were several folks around to guide us through and explain the mission of the museum and it's history. We especially enjoyed the several large aquariums with a variety of fish, turtles, alligators, etc. Our favorite display was probably the gators. We finished inside just as the busses of kids started arriving.

We visit Jackson frequently for holidays and make a point to bring our kids to the MS Children's Museum every trip. We live in TX and frequent children's museums in larger cities. By comparison, the MS Children's Museum is probably our kid's favorite. It has a number of different stations for kids which change things up every turn. Our kids could stay there all day. The kids love the car and boat stations, the music area, and the art activities.

The Museum shares a court yard with Thalia Mara Hall and entrance is through the court yard. We arrived when exhibitions were being switched. The staff was working on the Bethlehem Tree, a beautiful and large traditional piece with multiple figures on a backdrop of a tree and the stable in Bethlehem. New exhibits will be on display in mid December. We very much appreciated their ongoing exhibits. The artists all have in common either their being born or living in Mississippi.
