Planes of Fame Air Museum aims to preserve aviation history and inspire interest in aviation. The museum is located 5.9 miles away from Ontario, CA. The museum also educates the public and honors aviation pioneers and veterans. Planes of Fame Air Museum displays many flying and static aircraft and numerous rare aircraft types. The museum's collection includes the history of flight, from a replica of the 1903 Wright Flyer through WWI, the Golden Age, WWII, and into the jet age. In addition, the museum features several memorabilia contributed by members of the crew and flight squadrons of the USS Enterprise (CV-6). The museum also has many aircraft used on the Enterprise during the war. The collection now numbers nearly 160 aircraft, and nearly a quarter fly regularly.
