“Shedd Park is a prominent public park in Lowell, Massachusetts. The park occupies 50 acres and is positioned on Rogers Street, bordered by Boylston Street and Knapp Avenue in the Belvidere district, ranking among the largest urban green spaces in the Greater Lowell area. The park features multiple baseball fields, tennis and basketball courts, a pavilion, and a water park. The realization of Shedd Park was made possible in part by a $100,000 contribution from the estate of Freeman B. Shed. Following the passing of his wife, Amy, in 1924 and his daughter in 1921, without any heirs, this generous donation allowed the city to establish the park, which Shed had initially donated in 1910. The construction of the Shedd Park Field House took place in 1927. Subsequently, on October 29, 2016, it was dedicated and renamed the John D. Lord Pavilion. Shedd Park remains one of the largest urban green spaces in the Greater Lowell area.
