Big and beautiful park. We didn't get a chance to explore the entire thing, but we very much enjoyed what we did see. The 2 playgrounds were nice and well maintained, although they could maybe use a few more benches around for parents to sit on. The walk around the pond was relaxing, and we loved the docks. It seems like a great place to take the kids to spend a day. I highly recommend checking it out. We are from out of town but plan to come back when we are in the area again.
We were traveling through the area and we found this park and trail on AllTrails. We were looking for a place to stretch our legs and to get our steps in for the day. There is a nice concrete trail here and many other interesting things to look at here as well. We thought this was a great park to visit.
This is a really nice park. It has sensory gardens, a lake with fishing spots available, & water areas during nice weather. I didn't get to check out the tree house yet because it was damaged in a storm.

Here’s The Deal: Centennial Park is a renowned public park in Springfield, IL. The Public park is located on the far southwest side of Springfield, where residential and commercial buildings have been enlarging in recent years. The park was the biggest at the time and was funded with the help of an $800,000 grant called The Development Grant and Open Space Lands Acquisition from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The total project cost is $1,425,000.00. The land was developed in 1921, and the park has some rules and regulations, such as vehicles left after the park closing will be towed at the owner’s expense, and watch your speed, stopping, and signaling when driving in the park areas. The park playgrounds are “Kid-friendly zones” where smoking is discouraged.

TOP 3 CENTENNIAL PARK REVIEWS
Such a nice place to visit all times of the year. In the winter there’s a massive hill to sled down, and you can always watch sunsets or sunrises from the top of it. There’s plenty of trails and paths to walk. There’s a skate park, a dog park, and baseball fields, as well as a playground. There’s a pond too! Right next to the hill is the bike trail as well, and across the way is a little nature reserve where you can see butterflies, bunnies, birds, etc.
Such a beautiful park with lots of greenery around and the playground is convenient for my 18 months son till my 3 yr old daughter Which is a huge addition to be in a same place and both are entertained.
Came here just to see the Ground Squirrels. It was so nice to see them.

Enjoyed this location while visiting some family and found it to be quite the pleasant park to enjoy some evening story time with the kiddos! Larger than it looks with an adventure waiting around every corner and tunnel of the playground. Will be sure to stop by and visit again for another adventure of Space Pirate King Daddy and the best Princess Pirate Space fighter pilot in all the multiverse!
I grew up across the street from this park. When school was out or on break, my cousins, siblings, and I were always here. We have some of the best memories here. They have a playground, 3 ball fields, bench tables, balance beam, swings, etc. It is a great place for kids and also, very popular.
It it's a huge park, lots of room to run. It is in a great neighborhood the people there have always been friendly.
