3 Best Public Parks in Springfield, IL

Such a nice place to visit all times of the year. In the winter there’s a massive hill to sled down, and you can always watch sunsets or sunrises from the top of it. There’s plenty of trails and paths to walk. There’s a skate park, a dog park, and baseball fields, as well as a playground. There’s a pond too! Right next to the hill is the bike trail as well, and across the way is a little nature reserve where you can see butterflies, bunnies, birds, etc.

Beautiful, wide open park with Playground, tennis courts, picnic areas, a long paved trail and a Large Hill for a climbing challenge and sledding. There's also a paved path that winds to the top of the hill. Easy to pick out a place for solitude, as you can clearly see everything.

I love this park! I take my granddaughter to the playground often. Also, my daughter and I love to walk/run the Sangamon Valley trail that starts there. It is a beautiful trail for walking, running, or biking. And don't forget about conquering the giant hill as an added challenge!

Enjoyed this location while visiting some family and found it to be quite the pleasant park to enjoy some evening story time with the kiddos! Larger than it looks with an adventure waiting around every corner and tunnel of the playground. It's a huge park, lots of room to run. It is in a great neighborhood the people there have always been friendly.
