Fort Snelling State Park is one of our favorite parks in the Twin Cities. Come and see where the mighty Mississippi meets the Minnesota River. Hike around Pike Island or other trails. The deer are friendly. We cross-country skied through a herd of deer. Some didn't get up, they just watched us and I spoke to them. One day I approached a doe with three fawns. The doe wasn't afraid, she would have eaten out of my hand, if I had food for her. The wild turkey are friendly too.

Mears Park is a beautiful place to relax on the edge of Lowertown! Great place to walk your dog and listen to music. The park designers really did a great job with this green space. I definitely recommend checking it out. Plus there are some very nice bars and restaurants right across the street. The birch trees are my favorite part of Mears but the stream and gorgeous flowers beds are close seconds for sure.
