On December 12, 2001, local company Full Court Press opened its first downtown establishment, The Royal Mile. Described by the Des Moines Register as “Des Moines’ living room,” the Royal Mile has become the “local” for many people in Des Moines. So cozy up to the fire on a cold autumn day or enjoy their beautiful brick courtyard with friends and family. The Mile has a comfortable atmosphere, great beer selection, and excellent modern and traditional British dishes. The Mile has 28 ales and lagers on draft, over 120 bottled beers, and over 115 single malt Scotches. So raise a pint and a ruckus with your mates at downtown Des Moines’ favorite hangout.

THE ROYAL MILE REVIEWS
My wife & I had a great experience here. It's definitely an English Pub with that type of food but they also have American Food for the less adventurous. I got Scotch Eggs, Banger Bites, & Shepherd's Pie while my wife got the Turkey Club with steak fries & Mozzarella Sticks. It was all fantastic! Our server was incredibly friendly & very helpful which was appreciated since this was our first time here. They had a great pub atmosphere & also a few TV's scattered around to be able to catch the game. We'll definitely be going back!
Cool combination of a bar and restaurant. We went late after a concert and they only had the Late Night Menu but still was very good. I love the variety of appetizers that you don't always find in a bar. They have a wide selection of beers, whiskey and other drinks. Very nice service and experience. I would definitely come back.
Recommended by a stranger and boy did it not disappoint. Food was insanely good service was top notch. Next time I’m in town, I will be back. Thank you for the great meal and service.

FRANCIE'S BAR & GRILL REVIEWS
Good food and service was great I had the queso burger and it was an open faced burger which was a bit of a surprise but a good one. Fries were good wife had the Turkey melt and it was real good. We each had a couple of Mules, watermelon and cucumber/mint both were refreshing.
I love this place from the ambience to the food. I have never had a problem with anything at Francies. It is always a good bet for some killer food and great service!
The service was great and the food was even better! I will definitely be back!

Johnny's Hall of Fame – the first sports bar in Des Moines! Back in 1962, John Ulrich and his wife, Fran, opened the Interlude Lounge Key Club in the Elliot Hotel just around the corner on 4th Street. In 1972, Johnny and Fran pioneered a new concept in the bar business and changed the name to Johnny's Hall of Fame, creating the first sports bar in Des Moines. Their restaurant's famous quesadillas cheese-filled tortilla served with salsa and sour cream and coated with tomatoes and green onions. Their chef combined yummy salad greens covered with ham, turkey, black olives, diced tomatoes, hard-boiled egg, and cheddar jack cheese.

JOHNNY'S HALL OF FAME REVIEWS
Great service and sports atmosphere during March Madness! Our bartenders were stellar (one had long blonde hair with an undercut and the other a short blonde bob) and delivered prompt service on Friday and Saturday! Good fish and chips, wraps and Philly cheesesteak for food. Would highly recommend!
