In 1954 the Diocese of St Augustine embraced all of Florida and was under the direction of Archbishop Joseph P. Hurley. They are now celebrating 65 years. Immaculate Conception parish community and history are strong and they continue to strive for another 65 years. The Hialeah community has embraced its church. Here’s The Deal:
Santa Barbara Catholic Church was established in 1987. The Archbishop Edward A. McCarthy of Miami inaugurated Santa Barbara Parish to serve the western part of the City of Hialeah and the newly created City of Hialeah Gardens. The new Parish was entrusted to the pastoral care of Rev. Father Rafael Pedroso, who immediately set to work to find a suitable and central place to serve as the headquarters for the new parish community. Santa Barbara Catholic Church liturgical and biblical formation of the community through the bulletin, talks, and formation groups for catechists, choirs, and altar servers was his priority. Countless people have left the mark and memory of their loving work, commitment, and dedication in Santa Barbara throughout these 33 years. Their liturgical celebrations already had trained readers and choirs extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist regularly visited the sick.

Their first pastor Father Thomas Barry celebrated Mass at Milam Elementary School and the Palm Lakes Elementary School. Their parishioners erected a parish center with an auditorium for 500 people.
