“Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is the oldest churches in Kansas City, MO. The church history starts informally with the French men and women who began settling here around 1820. The church was constructed from bricks made at Fr. Bernard Donnelly's brickyard on the 11th and Pennsylvania (near the original church in the log cabin). The cornerstone celebration was a beautiful affair, and more than 10,000 people from across the city and state visited. Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception ministries in social, political, economic, disadvantaged, and oppressed societies foster and work for the collective good of all. In 1895, the developing community added a carillon of eleven bells. Crafted in 1912 by local artisans, the Cathedral's stained glass windows depict scenes from the life of Christ and other biblical narratives. Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception offers a model for sacred, Catholic music firmly founded upon the strong base of the vast, rich musical heritage of the church. The church provides a free car park voucher from their gift shop.
