Gallagher obtained his B.A. from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Illinois, and his Juris Doctor from the Chicago-Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology. He served as a trial attorney in the Lake and Cook County Public Defender Offices in Illinois for over 8 years. Gallagher has defended clients in 13 capital murder trials across three states, securing outcomes in every case that spared them from the death penalty. He previously served as president of the Greater Cincinnati Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. He formerly served on the Board of Directors for the Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and currently serves as Chair of the CLE Institute for the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is a founding member of the Ohio Innocence Project located at the University of Cincinnati Law School. William R.
