Dr. Akash Patel attended the Duke Medical School, widely considered to be one of the best medical schools in the United States. He did very well in medical school and was selected to become a member of the Duke's chapter of the Honorary Medical Society of Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA). Dr. Patel wanted to finish his Dermatology training in the South and completed his Dermatology residency at Emory University. He really enjoys being a general dermatologist. Dr. Akash Patel is a member of a number of societies and associations. He appreciates every facet of dermatology and likes to see rashes and surgically treat skin cancers and other lesions. Dr. Kevin Kia has a long history of success in the academic sector. He grew up in Michigan, and in 1998 graduated from Utica High School as a Valedictorian. He was accepted into the University of Michigan's prestigious combined undergraduate-medical degree program. He finished his Michigan internship and then came to UT-Southwestern to complete his Dermatology residency. Dr. Kia is very interested in teaching and research and has accepted an appointment at UT-Southwestern as Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology. He is a frequent speaker at the American Academy of Dermatology where he educates the value of cost-effective treatment to other dermatologists. Dr. Lisa Garner received her Bachelor of Science, Magna cum laude, in Pharmacy from the University of Houston, and her Doctor of Medicine from Baylor College of Medicine. In 1987, Dr. Garner completed an internship in internal medicine and a residency in dermatology at the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical School. She completed rotations during her residency at Parkland Hospital, Dallas Veterans Administration Hospital, and Children's Medical Center. She was accredited by the American Board of Dermatology (ABMS) and became a Fellow of the US Academy of Dermatology in 1987. She is a clinical professor of dermatology at UT Southwestern University. She treats patients of all ages, including infants and children. She focuses primarily on medical dermatology. Dr. Garner has a particular interest in allergic contact dermatitis. Dr. Garners' office is now offering patients virtual visits.
