I come here for the mountain bike trails. Amelia offers three levels of difficulty that most come to expect (novice, intermediate and advance) with the added benefit of most trails being relatively smooth which is great for beginners. In addition, be cautious if you go there often as they tend to reverse the trails here and there, but there's usually signage to help out.

I found myself in N Miami on a late Friday afternoon with a few hours to kill. I drove to the park and rented a paddleboard. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and gave me instructions and a map on just where to paddle. You'd never guess you're in the middle of bustling N Miami. You paddle through a mangrove passage and out to the open bay. Navigating around the island takes some time, and the current will give you quite the workout.
