TOP 3 FOREST PARK NATURE CENTER REVIEWS
I took my daycare kiddos to the Forest Park Nature Center for a free nature hike for young children which was organized by Susie (from the library). There we meet another Susie and Carrie. Carrie took us around the trail were we saw much wildlife and beautiful plants, she was also very knowledgeable about her plants too with was nice! During our hike we were in the shade alot so we didn't have to worry too much about getting overheated. Afterwards we went back to the center and Carrie pulled out a turtle so the kiddos have some one on one interaction. Found out that the beautiful tree (that is inside the building) was actually created by the same company that created the "Tree of life" at Disneyland which is beyond cool! There were also some very cool pictures and things to learn from inside! Thank you everyone for all the hard work you do and for providing this free activity for my littles!
This is a fantastic place to visit if you love trails! As a trail runner, I found the outer loop trail a fantastic workout with plenty of elevation changes and variety of terrain. It was almost exactly a 5K run around the park, and the route included some very challenging hills, but the trails are in terrific shape. Very well-maintained, with lots of signage and lines of travel (stairs vs inclines, for example). I wasn’t able to see everything on my run, so I’ll definitely be coming back again as a visitor from the Quad Cities.
I have always loved this place, and it's always a great time taking the kids and getting away from the everyday hustle of life! It's easy to do a quick half an hour Trail or if you're brave enough, take a few hours and really soak in the scenery. Got to see a nice young doe, and a young buck. We absolutely love our city hiking spots!

TOP 3 DETWEILLER PARK TRAIL REVIEWS
We love Detweiller Park! They have some nice hiking trails. There is a park close to a pavilion with a restroom close by. They have a sled hill in the winter for families to enjoy. There is a large field for soccer games, cross country meets, etc. They have a frisby golf course to play on. There is plenty of parking in different areas. I wouldn't suggest bringing in a semi or RV, but there is an area where you could park an RV as long as there aren't a lot of cars parked there.
We went here for the annual Pride picnic which was great. Although these are pictures of the pavillion are not the best part. This park has great hiking trails, creeks, animals and nature. There's some pretty killer up steep hill trails and moderate slopes. Great place for the family.
Good hiking trail. Clean and quiet. Some deers can be met. Nice distraction from the city life and just free psychotherapy. Yes, middle of October is dry season, so all the little rivers are shallow.

TOP 3 GRANDVIEW DRIVE REVIEWS
Grandview Drive has many parks and overlooks along it's winding road. There is a pavilion at the bottom and tthe beginning of a trail that you can walk the entire length of the drive. There's a tradition playground/picnic ground at the top of the hill. There are numerous overlooks some with benches and picnic tables. The Pimiteoui Trail leads down to the Forest Park Nature Center.
Most to do when you visit Peoria great vibes and views. Don’t forget to stop by and take a look for peoria lake from above specially in the summer. There is also many trail along the drive for hiking.
Beautiful views and safe sidewalks to run on. I saw a trail that sort of follow the roadway from below but didn’t have the right shoes to go run off-road. I recommend and will return.
