"Military Trail Natural Area is an excellent destination for hiking, walking, and natural trails that offer serene views. The Natural Area is a predominant scrubby habitat that has given rise to one of Broward County's rarest plant populations. This is a 2.3-km out-and-back trail with an elevation gain of 121 meters. This trail is generally considered moderately challenging, and it takes an average of 48 minutes to complete. This area is a mosaic of sand pine scrub, oak-dominated scrub, and scrubby flatwoods. On the northern edge, a small remnant dome swamp can be found. The Military Trail Natural Area is open year-round and is tranquil to visit anytime. The trail also ensures numerous facilities including kid-friendly hikes for the enjoyment of visitors.

Fern Forest Nature Center has a 244-acre designated wilderness area dedicated to preserving the natural environment. The trail is located 5.3 miles from Pompano Beach. This is a 1.3-km loop trail with an elevation gain of 2 meters. This is generally considered an easy route, and it takes around 14 minutes to complete. The Nature Center is an urban oasis and home to more than 30 varieties of ferns. The array of nature programming delves into the ten plant communities identified within its boundaries.
