BENICIA STATE RECREATION AREA REVIEWS
This little park is a hidden gem. The shoreline trail has a lot of driftwood and sandstone. People have built many driftwood teepees. You can see the Carquinez bridges and Mt. Diablo. Salmon are caught here. Boulders fall down which make natural sculptures some families were grilling meat and having a great picnic. The park is close to 780 but is also quiet. Thumbs up to the Benicia residents for its cleanliness.
Beautiful walk with views of the straits and to contea costa north shore. Can be a relaxing slow walk or a more serious hike. We parked at the entrance and started the hike along the internal road, then climbed along the trail that circles the tall electric tower, real nice.
Great place to do short hike...trail runs from Vallejo to Benecia. Family friendly recreation area. A lot of picnic tables. Also, popular place to fish.

BLUE ROCK SPRINGS PARK REVIEWS
This park is awesome! The parking is only $5 (usually) and there is plenty of open space. They have grills for you to use and some of them are close to a nice playground for the children to have fun in. They also have a trail you can walk, its beautiful and there are peacocks roaming around sometimes. There's lots of open space to play games or to bring your own lawn chairs or awnings.
Beautiful park. I love the playground they put in a few years back. I reserve my events here whenever i can. If you want the lake view location book it a few weeks in advance as i think it's the most popular to reserve. I love seeing the peacocks and i do try to hike up that california trail in the back. They will also allow permits for alcohol and jumpers.
Great park in Vallejo. Lots of picnic tables, big area with playground for kids of all ages. Even access to the trails in the hills.

MARE ISLAND SHORELINE HERITAGE PRESERVE REVIEWS
Great place for a hike, bike ride, view, bird watching, primative camping, yurt camping, historical veteran's cemetery, and conversation. Myrna Hayes is a fantastic preserve manager, and very knowledgeable of it's history, and plant and animal life. City of Vallejo you have a hidden gem there. Preserve it!
What a great, easy, up hill hike. Hiking on this small piece of the original Mare Island is worth while and rewarding. There is a restroom half way to the apex of the hike. There are old bunkers to explore. At the peak there is a memorial ghost ship with the the name of ships long past.
One of the best places to hike and walk in the area! Egrets, Osprey, and many other cool birds nest nearby. Great views, cool plants and trees and fungi!
