“Rock Creek Park spans over 1,754 acres and is the federal government's third national park to designate. The total length of the trail is 10.6 miles and the elevation gain of the trail is 259 feet. The trail is out and back type and allows tourists to escape the city's bustle and find a quiet sanctuary, relaxation, fresh air, magnificent trees, wild animals, and thousands of years of recorded history. Visitors can also enjoy the planetarium programs in the park and take the one-half-mile self-guided interpretive trail, the woodland path, which starts behind the nature center. They have more than miles of roads and hiking trails to discover. The facility includes a discovery room for children that offers books and games for environmental education.”
