Salem Lake Trail is one of the area's most popular fitness activities, and equestrians can be seen along with cyclists, walkers, and bikers. The mile markers on the Salem Lake Trail run counterclockwise from the parking lot of Stage, located near the playground and picnic area. Lake Trail stretches almost 7 miles, rounding Salem Lake in Winston-Salem city park of the same name. The park has a 365-acre lake, and the trail provides panoramic views over the water. Water fountains at the Point car park and Linville Road run between April and October. Linville parking area has bathrooms and a fun playground near the marina center. Salem Lake offers fishing from the pier or from a boat.

Muddy Creek Greenway operates from Country Club Road up to three miles along Muddy Creek. The parkway links five communities and runs through farm fields, soccer fields, and a horse pasture. It is located near Winston Salem, moderately trafficked out and back trail 5.7 miles. The variety of habitats makes the trail a paradise for birdwatchers Cardinals, bluebirds, chickadees, and woodpeckers are also found in the trees along the trail. Visitors can see the blackbirds, meadowlarks, and wild turkeys. They have a shelter for picnics, a dog park, playground, and more. Jamison Park off Meadowlark Drive has parking available.

Hobby Park is a highly trafficked loop park, situated on the outskirts of Winston-Salem. It has beautiful wildflowers and is rated as mild. The path provides a range of events and is open throughout the year. The park includes a wooded mountain bike path and an open field with R/C aircraft strips. Trails and a picnic cover make this a perfect place to enjoy a full day of fun. The park is safe and has a bike path.
