This is my go-to quick five mile hike. The parking is free but the lot is tiny, so I go right when it opens at 7AM. There are actual bathrooms at the start of the trail. The nature loop isn't the most exciting trail, but it can be nice in the spring before the plants turn to dust. The next part of the trail is uphill and sandy, which is a good challenge. There's a fork in the road aways after this part, go left for a long, steep climb. To the right is Turtle Ridge, which is a switchback trail. Overall good trail with easy and difficult parts.
Nice but small trailhead gives access to great trail system. With a good bit of climbing you can make it into Crystal Cove from here. On once- monthly Open Access days you can access even more trails as they open up some special trails. Really awesome entry point into nature.
