This is a true hidden gem in the RGV! My family and I were looking for something different to do and boy did we find it . Just don’t be afraid cause you will pass the border wall and some soldiers in hummers, be back by 5pm. There’s a combination of history and nature here . The mansion tour is very short but if you enjoy antiques and beautiful restored homes this is it !! The hike is great too this is where you will spend the rest of your day . Take plenty of water , some good shoes and a walking stick .
Love this place in the winter when bugs are knocked back by the cold. It's interesting, quiet and peaceful and good for bird watching. Nice gardens, hiking trails and you can look out over the Rio Grande river at one spot.
Great short and easy trails for young kids. Great signage for spotting wildlife, can leave the book in the car.
