Shunga Trail

We park at the east end of felker park parking lot to get in a couple of miles of “nature walk”. There is a paved section but if you head into the woods behind the ball field you will find really nice trails with trees, native grasses and birds galore!! It’s an oasis in the middle of the city!! You can wind around several sections, I think all, at least most, are marked with signage at intersections. You won’t get lost and can join back up with the paved trail at many points along the way.

I have been gone from Topeka for 3 and 1/2 years. Now that I am back home on the Seneca Trail in Shawnee County I remember everything and I loved every bit of it. There are so many new trails new directions and more and more miles to ride. I am so impressed that I'm in tears. But I love Topeka. Praise God.

So far I've only hike the section between Fairlawn and partway past Gage (around the are of Wells Park/Warren Nature area). Pretty good trail, especially in the area past Gage. Lots of nice trees, relaxing stream running alongside.
