“Garland Landmark Museum aims to collect, exhibit, preserve, and interpret historical elements of its community's unique heritage. GARLAND CENTRAL LIBRARY REVIEWS

This is a great library in a low-key Garland kind of way. It's very convenient in downtown Garland, easy to see from the street and easy to get to. I really like the variety of plants arranged around the entrance. It's very welcoming, as is the patio-like setup to your right as you enter. The library makes the most of its two stories. Not only are there books, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks and computers galore, but huge (and small) meeting rooms and lots of small reading chairs and tables sprinkled around in out-of-the-way locations. There's lots more, of course, but perhaps the most notable is the staircase from the first and second floor. Windowed ceiling/roof, huge light-emitting windows and clear plexiglass stairs make for a spectacular, scintillating, flowing architectural marvel. My photos don't do it justice but they can give you a hint of the beauty in this library.

I have been going to this library for 30 years+ and have found the selection to be great and the staff pleasant and helpful. I particularly want to thank a petite librarian who has been there many years with light reddish hair who seems to be at the front desk alot. She is always friendly, soft spoken and very helpful every time I have gone into the library. She is quite knowledgeable and seems to really enjoy her job. So good to see.

Great library for garland! I love going here as a kid with my mom! They have a small selection of Vietnamese books downstairs. This library has great selection of young adult, fiction, and children books.

SOUTH GARLAND BRANCH LIBRARY REVIEWS

Garland is worth moving to for their libraries alone. Every branch is full of helpful librarians and their childrens' resources are beyond compare? Recently they began reorganizing the kids' books into topics, maybe to get ahead of the book-banning loonies. Brilliant choice. Makes it easy for them to avoid their kids learning more than they want them to.. Every library in the country should do this. What a bright way to cooperate? And can you believe they lend out LAPTOPS too?! And cake pans?! And have tons and tons of FREE CLASSES?! And movies?! Scavenger hunts for the kids?! I LOVE GARLAND LIBRARIES. ....Interested in a seed bank though....that'd be AWESOME.

Very kid friendly! my babies feel very welcome and enjoy all that the library has for them. They do have a special area for children so there are games, toys, books, computers coloring and so much more. the adult section is on the opposite side of the library so it is very quiet over there for them. The librarians are kind and the book return process is super fun for the kids. This facility is not as redone as others but the atmosphere and the way my babies so welcome is worth it to us.

They have laptops you can use while you're there, There are computer stations with Microsoft office and Internet access, There's a fax machine, printer, copier/scanner, books, DVDs and a nice seating area with really cold AC. The Wi-Fi works well. The hours are odd though.

GARLAND LANDMARK MUSEUM REVIEWS

Delightful small museum in an old train station in downtown Garland. We learned this small town is considered the Cowboy Hat Capital of Texas because several large hat factories are there. It was also an important agricultural center which the exhibits explained. Nice small collection and wonderful guide. No fee to get in, so a nice way to get to know small town America.

Really neat museum to learn about the history of Garland, Texas. I enjoyed the second floor that has the history of the cotton, Kraft Foods building, and the old Garland newspapers. The museum is inside an old train station.

This is a good place where historical relics are well preserved. Also, the guide's explanation was perfect, and they were so kind. Thank you.
