The museum is located in the Woolworths building and was founded by Joseph McNeil, David Richmond, Franklin McCain, and Ezell Blair, Jr. (now known as Jibreel Khazan), four students from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Their mission is to preserve the legacy of the A&T Four and other Woolworths sit-ins and civil rights movement participants through dynamic exhibitions, education, and special events, providing cultural context.
