“John Rains House was constructed in 1860 by Joseph Mullaly from the red clay on the site by Ohio brick masons from bricks. The house is the oldest standing fired brick mansion. The house features a cooling system that uses ducts to send creek water under the house. The original house had an entry hall, three bedrooms in the front, a parlor, a patio area flanked by a dining room, a padre’s room, two guest rooms, and a kitchen. John Rains House hosts various special events and parties. The house offers free entry and ample parking. John Rains House was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 24, 1973.”

Hidden gem in the Inland Empire. We Vended here for Summer Spook Nights last Saturday all the way from East Los and loved it! Beautiful location.

Great fun for the whole family. Not a giant venue but a good time overall. Make sure to come in costume they have a costume contest.

This place was so well preserved. Our tour was informative and visually stimulating. Staff is very friendly.

ARCHIBALD LIBRARY REVIEWS

I was told by a good friend to come get a library card and quit spending so much money on books. When I say WOW! I don't mean that lightly. The staff are so welcoming and kind. The library is clean, quiet, and I just found out that you can borrow "things" from the library (cookware, gardening tools, etc) - this isn't the library I grew up with where we had the Dewey decimal system and books, period. #GenX All this to say that my experience here was brilliant and I wholeheartedly encourage you to visit.

My daughter and I absolutely love the toddler time readings. She is able to interact with other kids her age, burn some energy, and learn! They are Tuesdays and Fridays from 11:30-12pm. You have to get there at least 30 minutes earlier to receive a ticket. (Space is limited) Everyone there is super friendly and inviting. This place deserves the praise.

I got my first library card since high school a few months ago. It's been so much fun making time for myself exploring new stories. Everyone is very nice too.

Had such a wonderful tour here today! Judy is the sweetest lady. She gave me and my 2 sons a tour of the John Rains house and it was so nice. She was very kind to my boys even though they were very curious and wanted to touch everything! I have driven by SO many times and always wanted to stop and check it out and take a tour and I finally got around to it. The grounds are so beautiful and there is so much history. Judy is very knowledgeable and informative. I will definitely be back! And I would recommend this historical tour to anyone who lives here/nearby or passing though/visiting! Thank you Judy.

Just left here and had to comment on how impressive this place is. It's beautiful and has such an interesting and rich history. Our tour guide was amazing. She was so nice and knowledgeable. One of my favorite tour guides ever.

Judy, the lady who gives tours there is sweetest. She welcomed my family on a very fun tour and gave us lemons from the yard.
