The old courthouse almost went with a wrecking ball. Thank goodness it was saved. At one time there were many more Victorian buildings all over Sioux Falls and many were not as fortunate. It is good to see historical preservation. The building is lovingly upkept with exhibitions filling the rooms of a time long past. The staff do a good job with the collection, and there is always something new going up. The best's FREE!

This museum is quite literally under the driveway/street of Sanford Hospital. So if you can find Sanford Hospital, it's easy from there. You can either go into the main lobby of the hospital and take the elevator down, or a 'shortcut' (if you can do stairs) is to park in the Vandemark Building parking lot and go into the little glass cube that sits next to 18th St in front of the Vandemark Building. It's right between the two pedestrian crosswalks.
