I've never met such a nice, genuine, informative group of people than the folks that volunteer their time to keep Dr. Woodson African American Museum open for the community. Talking with Terri, the museum chair, I know they would like to have a real museum space one day, but they truly have transformed this building and even landscaped a gorgeous Savannah-inspired garden in the back to create a special place to celebrate African American history and art.

Our friend got married here last night, and I have to say the venue was excellent. The guests loved being able to walk around and look at the exhibits during cocktail hour. The space was perfect for a wedding of 100 or so. James, who pretty much runs the place, is fantastic. Very detail oriented, super helpful, definitely knows his way around events. He made sure all the details were covered.

An amazing museum chalk full of beauty and history. The permanent collection is a must see and has a host of artists to capture your interests. My favorite are the Monet's as they dazzle you with the variety of pieces along with a side by side painting of Monet's teacher. Be sure to take advantage of the docents free tour as it enhances your journey into time. Make sure to inquire about our docent Arthur Finegold, as he gets a five star rating for friendly and wonderful service.
