“Sunsphere stands 266 feet high and features an impressive hexagonal steel truss structure with a 75-foot gold-colored glass sphere atop, symbolizing the 1982 World's Fair in Knoxville. It is regarded as one of the few prosperous icons from the event, alongside the Amphitheater. Additionally, visitors can access the Observation Deck on the fourth level, offering breathtaking 360-degree views of the original World's Fair site, downtown Knoxville, the Tennessee River, and the Smoky Mountains. The Sunsphere and the Amphitheater are the two remaining features of the 1982 World's Fair. Admission to the Sunsphere is free for the public, with operating hours varying depending on the season and the museum and views from above are interesting, utilizing the small space in a fun and effective manner.”
