Specialty:
“Zoo Knoxville is dedicated to being part of the solution to save species from extinction, both locally and globally. The zoo aims to provide dynamic guest experiences while inspiring action for wildlife and wild places. They work with other zoos approved by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA) on a combined species survival plan for all animals that live in AZA-accredited zoos in North America. Zoo Knoxville is even involved with conservation work in the field, with an award-winning appreciation for their efforts to save East Tennessee’s endangered bog turtle and ongoing research with native hellbender and mudpuppy salamanders. Their staff members travel to far-flung places like Madagascar, the Komodo Islands, and Indonesia to study animals in their native habitats. Zoo Knoxville offers free admission for children 2 and under.”
